Snowbomb Sick’n'Twisted Tour

The forecast was for bluebird skies, it’s only just up the road from me, it’s a super-media friendly tour, I had a couple of buddies competing, and my buddy Robbie hooks me up with a lift ticket! No excuses for staying in bed on a Saturday morning…

…so I shot the Homewood Big Air (mainly) for kicks.

Well, the media-friendly bit went out of the window and my killer shots for the finals didn’t happen in the way I’d planned due to everyone and their dog deciding to populate the jump – and getting us all kicked off. Oh well, that’s the way it goes sometimes, and why it’s always nice to dish out media passes for those that bother to organise media credentials – so you only kick the rabble off, and not those that asked nicely. Happy media = happy photos ;)

Little moan aside the guys at Snowbomb, Homewood and their celebrity judges are an epic bunch! Thanks for your hard work!

Props to the judges too, sitting under the sun all day, watching some of the best locals throwing it down… oh, and nearly getting decapitated by a rogue snowboarder.

Lets go zoomy to see how close it really was…

Dang close!

So my setup was a D300 with 80-200mm f2.8 as primary and “tight” angle setup, triggering a trusty old D80 with Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 via a Yongnuo RF-602 wireless release – enabling me to be in 2 places at once ;) In fact the 4 shots above were all shot by the 2nd camera via wireless trigger. Handy when you don’t have line of sight to something interesting/exciting/crazy dangerous.

Anyway, enough of the blah, blah – enjoy the photos, and while you’re doing so please remember that they are all © Chris Stowell Photography and while the Copyright Act (17 U.S.C.) is a seriously mean piece of legislation that dishes out stiff financial penalties to those that don’t respect copyright law, it’s actually way easier/cheaper to just drop me an email asking permission to use the image. I don’t bite ;)

Have a great one!
